In field experiments conducted during kharif (1991, 1992), combined application of urea (25 kg ha−1), 0.75 t ha−1 of farmyard manure enriched with 50 kg ha−1 PP5 as rockphosphate over a basal application of 6.25 t ha−1 offarmyard manure to the soil and sown with Rhizobium treated seeds and spraying diammonium phosphate at 2.5 kg ha−1 at 55 and 70 days after sowing recorded the highest yield and protein content of grain of red gram and the uptake of nutrients. The available nutrient status of the soil after the harvest of the crop also increased significantly by this treatment.
