Abstract

A pot experiment was conducted with a highly calcareous soil (43% CaCO3), collected from bhat area of Gorakhpur Division (U.P.) to study the response of wheat to zinc and phosphorus. Application of both these nutrients increased significantly the grain and straw yield of wheat. Higher the amount of Zn and P applied, higher was the concentration of the two elements in plants. Variation of P/Zn ratio in different plant parts due to increasing P levels also indicated the reduction of concentration of Zn in upper parts of the plant.
