Abstract

Field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 1987–88 and 1988–89 on an 1nceptisol to study the effect of NPS on oil content, iodine value and lipoxygenase activity of linseed oil. Treatments consisted of N, Ppj and S @ 0, 40 and 80; 0, 25 and 50; and 0, 30 and 60 kg ha−1, respectively. The application of N decreased P and S increased oil content of the linseed in both the years. Significant responses were recorded up to 80 kg N, 50 kg P2O5 and 30 kg S ha−1, while N application increased the iodine value of oil, whereas P and S decreased the same to a significant extent. The weight of oil increased significantly with increase in the period of exposure.
