Adsorption of Copper in Alfisols in Relation to Soil Properties

Adsorption of Cu was studied on 14 Alfisols of West Bengal and the data obtained were fitted to two adsorption isotherm equations, viz. Freundlich and Langmuir. The adsorption parameters of both the above models were influenced, mainly by pH and organic C content of the soils, the role of pH being more at lower level of adsorption. Oxides of Fe, Al and Mn, though present in high amount in these soils, played insignificant role in the Cu adsorption phenomenon.
