Abstract

Water production functions of dryland pearl millet, mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) and cluster bean were developed using grain yield and corresponding evapotranspiration on Aridisols. The value of regression coefficient indicates that the yield prediction is more reliable for pearl millet than mung bean followed by cluster bean. The slope of regression equation was the highest for pearl millet followed by mung bean and cluster bean, indicating pearl millet to be more efficient water user than mung bean while cluster bean was the least efficient user of water but was more drought tolerant than the other two.
