Abstract

Eleven soil series of Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra were evaluated for their productivity potentials based on soil-site characteristics and physical, physicochemical and chemical properties. Ratings/Grades for these characteristics are allotted and their mean values are used for comparison. The land evaluation gradings A to K i.e. extremely high productivity potentials (Typic Haplusterts) to extremely low productivity potentials (Lithic Ustorthents) are observed. A method is suggested for evaluation of productivity potentials of these soils under a set of climate and management practices.
