Abstract

The changes in electrochemical properties of soil treated with greenmanures, viz., two stem nodulating legumes (Sesbania rostrata and Aeschynomene afraspera) and prilled urea were studied. Incorporation of greenmanures increased the electrolyte conductivity of soil solution compared with the urea treated soil. Both the treatments lowered the redox potential, but greenmanure treatment lowered it more than urea treatments. pH increased with all the treatments to a fairly stable value.
