Abstract

Twenty five surface soil samples from benchmark and other established soil series of Maharashtra were studiedfor the distribution of DTPA-extractable (plant available) forms of Zn, Cu, Mn and Fe and for their relationship with some soil properties. The deficiency of Zn and Fe may be expected in a large number of soil series of Maharashtra. Compared to Zn and Fe deficiency, the deficiency of Mn was limited, while Cu was found to be adequate in all soil series. DTPA-extractable Zn and Mn were positively and significantly correlated with organic carbon, clay and CEC. DTPA-extractable Fe also showed similar relationship with organic carbon and clay content of soil, while DTPA-extractable Cu was positively and significimtly related with only organic carbon.
