In an incubation study, application of flyash to an acid soil (Alfisol), in presence or absence of FYM, has resulted in increased microbial population, urease and cellulase activities. Flyash reduced considerably acid phosphatase activity in the soil. The microbial population and CO2-evolution decreased with increase in period of incubation. Highest urease, celh.l1ase and acid phosphatase activities were observed up to seven days of incubation followed by decline thereafter.
