Abstract

Status and critical limit of potassium in soils and plants were studied in fifteen surface soils of Jagannathpur and Barakonda soil series of West Bengal. Major fractions of potassium were intercorrelated, indicating the existence of dynamic equilibrium among them. The critical limit of K in soils and concentration in mustard plant were found to be 90 kg ha−1 and 3.1 per cent in the Jagannathpur and 84 kg ha−1 and 3.02 per cent in Barakonda series. Bray's per cent yield was positively and significantly correlated with available K and K uptake by mustard plant.
