Abstract

Critical limits of potassium in Belar (fine, mixed, hyperthermic Vertic Haplaquept) and Bankati (fine, mixed, hyperthermic Aeric Ochraqualf) series were studied in a pot experiment using rice as a test crop for the critical limit of K in soils and concentration of K in rice plant. Bray's per cent yield, per cent K content and K uptake by rice plant were significantly correlated with water soluble, available, reserve, non-exchangeable and total K. The data confirmed that the existing critical level of 113 kg ha−1 is applicable to the soils of Belar and Bankati series.
