Abstract

A pot/experiment was conducted during 1987–88 and 1988–89 to study the effect of lime and ferti.lizer on nutrient uptake by palmarosa and physicochemical changes in chromite overburden soil at Regional Research Laboratory. Bhubaneswar. Three levels each of lime and fertilizer in nine combinations in a complete factorial randomized block design were taken up. Application of lime and fertilizer resulted in appreciable increase of Ca, Mg, N, P, K and soil pH whereas Cr and Fe decreased with lime application. On the other hand available N, P and K did not increase appreciably. DTPA extractable Fe and Cr increased with fertilizer in the absence of lime but decreased with the increasing dose of lime. DTPA extractable Fe and Cr correlated negatively with soil pH.
