Abstract

A field study was conducted to study the leaching behaviour of some Inceptisols. The soils studied were clay, loam and sandy loam. Clay soil belonged to Vertic Ustochrept, loam to Typic Ustochrept and sandy loam to Fluventic Eutrochrept. The amount of water required decreases as the texture of the soil changes from clay to sand for removal of salts. For reducing 80 per cent salts from 0.90 m soil depth, 1.30, 0.89 and 0.31 m water was required to be passed through clay, loam and sandy loam soils.
