Abstract

Effect of modified urea formulations on N use efficiency was studied on an Inceptisol of the Himalaya with maize as test crop. Significantly higher grain and stover yield was recorded with all the formulations used. N use efficiency and uptake efficiency were significantly higher with all the urea formulations. Sulphur coated urea was highest in this respect. Sulphur coated urea maintained the soil at the highest available nitrogen level even up to 120 days.
