Abstract

A relationship was developed between easily oxidized C in cattle slurry as estimated by chromic acid method and the amount of N immobilized after its addition to soil. The amount of C oxidized from slurry by 8.2 mL of concentrated H2SO4 was readily available C. The amount of N immobilized was significantly correlated with the readily available C. Edsily oxidized C in slurry by chromic acid method appears to provide a good estimate of the potential immobilization of N.
