The mineralogical make up of hill soils of Ramganga catchment (Kumaon Himalayas) developed on quartzite and biotite schists, indicated that mica was the most dominant clay mineral followed by chlorite, vermiculite and smectite whereas, kaolinite, allophane, quartz, Kfeldspar, Na-feldspar and Ca-feldspar only in small quantity.
