Abstract

A survey was conducted in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra to study the fertility status of the soils growing Alphonso mango. The diagnostic norms were developed using Diagnosis and Recommendation Integrated System (ORIS). The optimum pH ranged from 4.3 to 5.8, available N from 58 to 134 mg kg−1, P 10 to 15 mg kg−1, K 122 to 426 mg kg−1, Ca 249 to 551 mg kg−1, Mg 125 to 204 mg kg−1 and S 67 to 177 mg kg−1. The DTPA extractable optimum Fe ranged from 51 to 63 mg kg−1, Mn 8 to 51 mg kg−1, Zn 2.6 to 3.5 mg kg−1 and Cu 0.24 to 7.8 mg kg−1. An yield level of 5.3 to 7.4 Mg ha−1 was recorded in the optimum range of nutrients for Alphonso grown in this region.
