Abstract

A greenhouse experiment was conducted on two deficient Typic Ustorthent and Vertic Aquic Ustropept using rice as the main crop and green gram as the residual crop to study the effect of Zn-enriched organic manures on the dynamics of zinc in soil and plant. Higher levels of zinc (5.0 mg Zn kg−1) and its enrichment with organic manures (Composted coirpith + green leaf manure) increased the yield, amount of zinc present in water soluble and exchangeable, complexed, organically bound and occluded forms, DTPA-Zn status and Zn content in:the plants. Increasing Zn additions with organic manures also resulted in a significant residual effect on the subsequent crop.
