Abstract

Effect of Iime and P applications on nutrient transformations in a Tropofluvent acid and Sulfaquept acid sulphate soil under submerged conditions was studied. Various lime and phosphorus levels caused a proportionate increase in available P of the soil up to 60th day in both the soils, after which it registered a slight decrease; the increase was more with rock phosphate compared to superphosphate. Application of lime and phosphorus resulted in a remarkable repression of water soluble and exchangeable Al and Mn content in both the soils whereas there was an increase in the Fe content with lime application and decrease with phosphorus application. The exchangeable Ca of both the soils increased with lime and P application, but exchangeable Mg did not show any specific trend.
