Abstract

The relationship between the soil water characteristics at 0.03 and 1.5 MFa tensions and physicochemical characteristics was studied in 108 horizon-wise soil samples collected from 22 representative pedons in Krishna, Godavari and Sarada river commilnd areas of Andhra Pradesh. The water retention was lower in surface horizons over sub-surface horizons. The cation exchange capacity, clay, silt and exchangeable Mg and Na had significant positive relationship with the available water content and also with the water retained at 0.03 and 1.5.
