Abstract

Relationship between Q and I parameters of labile K in selected soil series of southern Karnataka was studied. Quantity parameters like KL, Kx, K0 and PBCK showed wide variation among the soil series and also within soil series. Intensity Parameters like ARoK and free energy of exchange (ΔG0) showed similar trend. K0 values compared favourably with ammonium acetate extractable K in these soils. There was positive correlation between ARck and PBCK, pH, CaCO3 CEC etc. Soils with higher clay content recorded higher Kx and PBCK values. Mean values of ΔG0 (−3.19 kcal eq−1) of all the soil series in the present slndy were closer to the lower limit of optimum K availability.
