Based on yield, recovery and nitrogen use efficiency by the crop this study was conducted to find out the bslanced use of fertilizer nitrogen in wheat grown in a Typic ustocbrept of Western U.P. The experiment consisted of three replications of 20 treatment combinations of four irrigation frequency (2, 3, 4 and 5) and five nitrogen levels (0, 60, 90, 120 and 150 kg N ha−1). It was observed that grain and straw yields increased at higher levels of irrigation and fertilizer-N, whereas recovery and efficiency of nitrogen were found higher at higher irrigation levels and at lower fertilizer-N.
