Abstract

Field experiments were conducted for two years (2001–02 and 2002–03) with mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czern and Coss.] as a test crop on Haplustepts with five doses of sulphur (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 kg S ha−1) and zinc (0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 kg Zn ha−1). Seed and stover yield increased significantly up to 40 kg S and 5 kg Zn ha−1 application. Application of 60 kg S ha−1 and 2.5 kg Zn ha−1 significantly increased the nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulphur content at 30, 60 and 90 DAS and at harvest in both the years of experimentation. Nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulphur uptake increased significantly up to 60 kg S and 5.0 kg Zn ha−1 application except nitrogen and potassium uptake in seed where significant increase was recorded only up to 40 kg S ha−1.
