Impact of integrated nutrient management and mineral nutrient on soil nutrient status and yield of rice (Oryza sativa L.) in acidic soil of Nagaland

Abstract

A field experiment was carried out during kharif season of 2021-2022 to investigate the impact of integrated nutrient management and mineral nutrient on soil nutrient status and yield of rice crop at Medziphema, Nagaland, India. The effect of the doses of mineral nutrients viz., nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), sulphur (S) and zinc (Zn) with various organic manures like FYM, vermicompost and biofertilizers like Azospirillum and soil amending material such as lime were incorporated under the principles of integrated nutrient management on soil nutrient status, and crop yield. Application of 100% NPK + Zn + S + FYM @ 5 t ha-1 proved to have significantly enhanced the soil nutrient status viz., available N, P, K, S, Zn and soil organic carbon (SOC). Grain and straw yield was significantly higher with the integrated application of 100% NPK + S + Zn + FYM @ 5 t ha-1 as compared to sole application of mineral nutrient or organic manures. The SOC (g kg-1) showed highest with treatment T8 (100% NPK+Zn+S+FYM@5 t ha-1) which increased to a tune of 30 per cent over control (T1). Application of chemical fertilizers along with organic manures in treatment T8 proved to have increased the grain and straw yield of the crop to the extent of 116 and 44 per cent over control (T1), respectively.
