The present study was carried out at Govt Medical College, Nagpur for the period Jan 2003 to Dec 2004, to evaluate the pattern of poisoning cases in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. All medicolegal cases of death due to poisoning were studied. In all the cases suicidal deaths were the commonest, followed by accidental and homicidal fatalities. Organophosphorus compound was most commonly encountered. The relevance of age, sex, marital status, occupation, educational status, season, and motive were analyzed in all the cases.
