Deriving inter-country welfare inferences from national income estimates: Some methodological aspects

National income estimates are not reliable indicators for welfare measurement in general and for making inter-country welfare comparisons. In line with the effort of Nordhaus and Tobin the present study aims to suggest an alternative method based upon human needs to derive comparable measure of economic welfare and of economic cost by making some adjustments, modifications and supplementations to the national income estimates.
