India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. This paper presents an overview of sectoral growth rates of Indian economy, since the 1950s, along with the economic reforms carried out from time to time by the policy makers. The analysis is made for four different periods, 1950–80, 1980–92, 1992–2002 and 2002–07.
