Abstract

Exhaustive measurement of GDP is highly desirable but is an extremely difficult task. In India the Central Statisitcal Orgnaisation makes continuous efforts to improve the quality and coverage of source data used in the compilation of GDP. The paper describes in detail the strategies adopted by CSO for the exhaustive measurement of GDP. CSO essentially makes adjustments in the administrative data for the under-coverage, non-reporting, underestimation; and uses labour input method for the unorganised sector.
