The Gross Value Added (GVA) in the unregistered manufacturing sector is being estimated by the Labour Input Method (LIM) in Indian National Account. LIM requires the estimates of Gross Value Added per Worker (GVAPW) and Labour Input (LI). For this estimation, data from multiple sources like Employment Unemployment Survey (EUS) and Enterprise Survey (ES) on unorganized manufacturing sector of NSSO, census of Development Commissioner of Small Scale Industries (DCSSI) and Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) are being used presently. This paper explores an alternative methodology of estimating GVA for the unregistered manufacturing sector in a simplified manner with rural urban break up.
