Airport service is an important and growing activity in India. In the current national accounts statistics (NAS) releases, the value added of airport services is included under ‘services incidental to transport’ of the major activity ‘transport by other means’. Presently, airport services included in NAS cover only the public sector and therefore are restricted only to ‘Airport Authority of India (AAI)’. However several private sector units are currently engaged in providing these services through public private partnerships (PPP) arrangement. This paper attempts to estimate the national accounts aggregates in respect of both public and private airport services (AAI and PPPs), by analyzing their annual reports.
