An approach to compile quarterly estimates of savings

Quarterly estimates of savings are not compiled by the CSO at present. Considering the importance of having a short term indicator of savings for policy formulation and planning purposes, the Committee on Macro-Economic Changes set up by the National Statistical commission has recommended compilation of quarterly estimates of saving by public and private Sector. An attempt is made in this paper to compile quarterly estimates of savings using available data.
