Satellite account of NPIS in Uttarakhand survey results & capturing labour volunteerism

This paper outlines the Survey of Non-Profit Institutions (NPIs) conducted by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Uttarakhand according to the guidelines provided by the Central Statistical Office (CSO). The survey was conducted in two phases – (i) construction of frame/list of NPIs taking data from secondary sources and (ii) visiting & tracing NPIs in the field and collecting data on their activities, employment status, assets, volunteerism etc. The paper also presents principal data collected through both the phases and the satellite account of the NPIs in Uttarakhand. However, the paper is more focused on the way labour volunteerism has been captured during the survey and suggests for improving its estimation.
