Abstract

This paper presents back-series of SDPdata on 1999–2000 and 2004–05 base years for Uttarakhand. It also mentions the possible reasons why various DESs/SSBs do not attempt to prepare back-series. The methodology suggested by the CSO has been rewritten for DESs/SSBs in simple and easy-to-understand language. Income aggregates for back-series of2004-05 have been worked out using GSDP data (Sub-sector level) of Uttarakhand. Aggregates obtained are very close to those produced by the DES-Uttarakhand. It has been, therefore, argued that there appears no need for DESs/SSBs to rework or conduct detailed calculations when purpose is merely to prepare a comparable back-series.
