Informal Employment in Tourism Industries

This paper assesses the extent of informal employment in tourism industries in 2009–10 and 2011–12 compiled from the unit level data of NSS 66th and 68th rounds on employment and unemployment. Informal employment defined in this paper is from the guidelines provided in the 17th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS). The tourism industries are those defined in the India's Tourism Satellite Account, 2009–10 prepared by the National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER) on behalf of Ministry of Tourism in 2012.
