SNA 2008 recommends that unincorporated enterprises owned by households that are operated as if they were privately owned corporations and for which separate accounts are available may be treated as quasi corporates and included in the corporate sector. Hence in the 2011–12 series, such enterprises which are called quasi corporates have been included in the private corporations. In the 2004–05 series, quasi corporates were a component of the households sector. Using information available from unit level data of NSS 67th round (2010–11) for unincorporated enterprises, it has been possible to estimate savings in the form of physical assets by quasi corporates separately. Savings in the form of financial assets are not separately available for these entities. Presently, data on household savings in financial assets, including quasi-corporates, are provided by the RBI. Using information on ownership of financial assets by money lenders, stock brokers, trusts, associations, clubs, proprietary & partnership concerns, educational institutions etc., an attempt has been made to estimate savings of quasi corporate sector.
