Difference in composition of item baskets and prices of items included in two indices may lead to a gap between the overall inflation rates based on consumer price indices and wholesale price indices, but increasing divergence between these inflation rates during the year 2015 has become a matter of grave concern. An attempt has been made in this paper to demystify this increasing difference.
