The paper attempts to provide a methodology for the estimation of Gross State Disposable Income1 (GSDI)2 in the context of the revision of System of National Accounts (SNA-2009) on a sub-national level. India being one of the countries with maximum migrants and enjoying the highest quantum of remittance receipt feel to have the need to estimate and include the role of international remittances in the disposable income of the state, as the remittances flow only to certain pockets, at sub-national level in a country. This paper makes an attempt to theorise the concepts and draw out a suitable methodology adaptable for the estimation of GSDI at sub-national level.
