The developments in software and artificial intelligence (AI) have navigated library and archival sciences to a level where the retrieval, preservation, and dissemination of information are at ease. In this context, the article deals with the evolved roles of libraries in an age characterized by AI tools such as natural language processing, machine learning, and semantic search. It explains the transition from Physical archival collection to AI-enabled digital libraries offering advanced, automated indexing amidst personalized interactions and virtual assistant services for improved user engagement. The research areas include data ethics in AI, such as data privacy, algorithmic bias and equitable access. Digital and links in law with the digital divide and disadvantage of infrastructure problems are combated as well. Drawing from expert perspectives and modern success stories, this article projects the new roles libraries will assume as they evolve into universal and responsive sources of knowledge that emphasize ethical values and advance social inclusion and education outreach.
