Abstract

Libraries have transformed from passive repositories of knowledge into active learning communities that promote collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy. Originally, libraries served primarily as storage centres for books and academic materials, but technology has reshaped their role in education. Today, libraries provide access to both physical and digital resources, support collaborative efforts, and incorporate new technologies like 3D printing, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence to improve learning. This development has positioned libraries at the heart of education, making them accessible and inclusive by facilitating entry for marginalised groups, offering internet access, and employing assistive technologies for individuals with disabilities. Future-oriented libraries will keep evolving, with library screens supporting students by embracing gamification, eco-friendly practices, and AI-powered personalisation to create more engaging and inclusive learning environments. As hubs of lifelong learning and civic engagement, libraries remain relevant in bridging the digital divide and promoting educational equity. Through continuous innovation aligned with technological and pedagogical advances, they ensure they remain key pillars in shaping the future of education. This research paper examines how libraries are evolving from simple information repositories into learning communities, emphasising technology integration, collaboration, accessibility, digital literacy, and lifelong learning in modern education.
