A Content Analysis of Library Websites of Top 20 Nirf-Ranked Dental Institutions in India, 2023

This study evaluates the digital presence and service delivery of library websites of the top 20 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-ranked dental institutions in India (2023). A quantitative content analysis method was employed using a structured checklist comprising 62 indicators across nine dimensions. Data were collected from January to March 2024 through systematic observation of institutional websites. The findings reveal that none of the institutions maintain dedicated library websites or utilize content management systems, relying primarily on institutional webpages. Core services such as collections (85%), e-resources (75%), and reference services (80%) are widely available. However, significant gaps exist in research support tools, Web 2.0 applications, and content currency. Interactive services such as FAQs (0%) and “Ask a Librarian” (15%) are notably limited. The study highlights uneven digital maturity and recommends adopting standardized web frameworks, integrating interactive tools, and enhancing digital services to improve user engagement and research support.
