Web 2.0 service facilitates users to interact with others, and its attributes are close to knowledge management. However, its practical impact on library service delivery has been limited. The study found that 3257 papers were published till December 31, 2012 in 160 journals originating from 93 countries. These research papers contain 27245 citations with average ∼8.4 citations per publication. The top 17 countries produced 2731 (83.9%) of the total world research outcome. United States is the leading country with 875 (26.9 percent) research publications. Hong Kong showed a considerable rise in its TAI in 2009–2012 from 9 to 122. City University of Hong Kong contributed the maximum, 20 (0.9%) research papers on Web 2.0. The highest number of papers 7 (0.2%) are written by N Aharony of Bar-Ilan University, Ramat Gan, Israel. However, University of Toronto has received (∼3.0) highest relative citation impact (RCI). The popular keywords used in these publications are ‘Web 2.0’, ‘World Wide Web’ and ‘Social Media’.
