Innovation is the key to success and the prerequisite of present competitive world. It is the catalytic tool that can transform the future of youths as well researchers. It is highly delightful to commemorate the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who said ‘Universities do not need a pile of majestic buildings; university needs intelligent backing of public community.’
Especially, the community with higher intellect can bring torrential revolution in framing the qualitative landscape of Indian researches. As quoted by Dr. Rajesh Tandon (UNESCO Co-Chair), “Gandhi believed in holistic education, not separating one from the other”, emphasizes his vision to generate experts who are relevant for society’s needs. A remarkable initiative taken by University Grants Commission (UGC) i.e., ‘Trans-Disciplinary Research in India’s Developing Economy’ to investigate real problems with a special attention on social impact plans, which will offer scholars an opportunity to work at ground-level and understanding the community. According to Global Innovation Index (GII) 2019, India has been consistently climbing the GII ranking for the past five years and reached on 52nd rank from 57th in 2018, amongst 129 countries all over the world.
The Government of India proa ctively emphasizing the need of research into all the fields of education. With this viewpoint, researchers are given encouragement to gain the ultimate promotion of the society and fortifies the Indian innovation and research. Due to the continuous integration and promotion of technology into the research has bring out the very new concepts. Likewise, researchers are also encouraged to achieve sustainable development goals in every sector by considering the UN’s agenda of 2030. The Journal of Knowledge & Communication Management (JKCM), encourages authors to write innovatively in order to contribute to the aforesaid noble agenda as well as to the concepts.
Many Qualitative and Quantitative Research papers were received from the intellectuals and reviewers have had an uphill task to select only six articles with an outstanding “Book Review”, for the current issue of Journal of Knowledge & Communication Management (JKCM) Volume 09, No. 02 (October). The first paper is contributed by Professor Pearl C. Akanwa with Dr. Ogechi N. Okorie, entitled “Organizational communication as correlate of Job-satisfaction of staff of Public libraries in Abia and IMO states, Nigeria”, adopted a correlational research design in their study to correlate organizational communication as a means of job satisfaction among the staff of public libraries.
The next article entitled “Breaking the Limits of Language Barrier in Global Marketing: Crucial for Marketing to the Millennials” is contributed by Dr. Nandita Mishra, Dr. Tanusree Chakraborty, Dr. Beanca Rosalin and Dr. Anindita Datta focusses on the issues of globalization of markets which compels marketers to pursue international businesses. Millennials happen to make the major share of global market audience. Since every country has a different culture, international businesses must determine different strategies, specifically when they are targeting the well-informed millennial group who are more digitally oriented and live in the era of icons and emojis. The contextualized approach in the paper has the potential not just to enrich the language dimension in international marketing for millennials, but also provide insights for crafting cross-cultural strategy.
The Third article is co-authored by Ms. Avani and Dr. Mohamed Haneefa, entitled “Use of Social Media by Library and Information Science Students in Universities in Kerala”. The paper attempts to highlight the adoption of social media by the LIS students in the universities in Kerala in their studies and research.
The next article jointly authored by Ms. Anam Jamal Ansari and Prof. P.M. Naushad Ali furnishes an overview regarding the security issues, tools and guidelines in protecting the libraries and Information centers. This paper aims to discuss the various security issues faced by the libraries in general and tools to provide adequate security measures along with some security guidelines or standards published by ALA, NAAC, ACRL, etc.
The fifth article, entitled “Evaluation of LIS Research Performance of USA: A Bibliometric Study” is a joint contribution by Mr. BibhutiBhusanPattanaik and Dr. ZuchamoYanthan. The main objective of this paper is to review and analyze the profile of the PhD awarded degree holders in the discipline of Library and Information Science (LIS) in United State of America during the timeline of 2001 to 2010. It will assess the research scenario of LIS research in the US by evaluating the key aspects such as research productivity, prominent areas of research, their scholarly publication pattern, authors’ collaboration, and discover the key sources of publications with the help of bibliometric parameters.
The last article is contributed by Mr. Kazeem Abiodun Akinwande, Dr. Abdurrahman Bello Onifade and Dr. Hashim Roosfa, titled “The Development of Mosque Library in Nigeria: The Southwest Perspective”. This article emphasizes the importance and use of Mosque library which is essential for the preservation of books and other resources on religion and facilitates learning of religious ethics, guides, practices, and norms. If they are well developed and managed, they can help to prevent immoral and other social vices which the religion forbids.
At the end of the issue a book review has added. The Book entitled “ Guru Nanak: a Webliography of Open Access Books in English, Punjabi and Hindi” authored by Dr. Sukhdev Singh, was reviewed by eminent Library Science Professor Dr. M.P. Satija, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
