Abstract

In the present study motivational climate prevailing in Indian call centre industry has been diagnosed. The study also examines the impact of demographic variables on work motivation of employees in call centres. The methodology adopted involves administration of questionnaire, preparation and analysis of profile on motivational climate and discussion of results of analysis with key organizational members through unstructured interviews. As a result of the study the probable causes leading to poor motivational climate prevailing in the selected call centres were outlined. Certain HR strategies/OD interventions for enhancing employee motivation and reducing the high rate of attrition were also recommended for implementation.
