The survey methodology was adopted for the collection of data. The Eighty MPs were interviewed with the help of a structured questionnaire from all over India using simple random sampling. The survey results were tabulated and analyzed with descriptive statistical methods.
The purpose of this paper is to study the information needs and level of awareness of Members of Parliament (MPs) in India towards the Educational sector of their region. The availability and adoption of various education related to Government policy and programs by the MPs are also studied.
The findings reveal that all Indian MPs are already aware of information related to Education in their area but in some instances, they seek this information through people of their constituency (45%). The majority of MPs agreed that they have adopted the ‘Right to Education Act’ (90%) and have implemented the ‘Education Literacy Programmes’ (98.8%) in their constituency. Most MPs in all the regions agreed that the Education system in their constituency majorly stresses upon local language center to promote the local art and culture of the region. Lastly, the study concludes that the main funding to support all the educational programmes is provided through ‘Central Funding’ by MPs in all the regions of India.
