A study of Mysore university library users’ opinion on OPAC access

Abstract

This article describes the use of Web OPAC in the central library of the University of Mysore campus. To back up some of the research questions and replies, Questions were posed regarding the amount of time spent in the university library during a library visit, patron awareness of the web OPAC, and how frequently patrons look for various information resources via the web OPAC. And, it tried to know what fields they use when searching for a document at the university, knowledge of advanced search on Web OPAC, use of advanced search capabilities, sources searched in OPAC for academic purposes at the university library, library Web OPAC provides choices for narrowing down search results. Web-based OPAC Personalized library services, desire to receive updates about library services via social media tools, happy with library services provided via computerized system Provides users with information about training sessions and awareness programmes, as well as indicating how frequently web OPAC is used. Patrons are also suggested for Mobile applications, etc., that will encourage the use of web-OPAC, and university libraries should formulate policies that will encourage the mandatory use of Web OPAC.
