Plagiarism is the current crucial problem in higher education. The present study highlighted factors and environments that influence plagiarism activity among faculty and students during their academic and research works. An extensive examination of the literature was conducted to carry out the review study. The predatory journals, open-access publishing, paraphrasing tools, and AI-based tools were discussed as environments for plagiarism. Several important factors associated with plagiarism were also identified.
