Abstract

The emergence of Bitcoin, acknowledged as the first cryptocurrency catalyzed the development of blockchain technology. This technology is characterized by its relative novelty, complexity, and reliability, prompting researchers to explore innovative applications of this transformative instrument across various domains. This article offers a brief examination of blockchain technology and its potential deployment within libraries and information centers, intending to enhance library and information services both presently and prospectively. This paper introduces blockchain technology, along with an exploration of its various forms, characteristics, advantages, and prospective uses within the realms of libraries and education. Blockchain technology is regarded as a profoundly disruptive innovation capable of fundamentally altering societal operations. Owing to the decentralized architecture of this technology, the integrity of transactions is maintained, rendering them resistant to modification, duplication, or forgery. The initiative seeks to enlighten library professionals regarding this revolutionary technology and to furnish them with strategies for the appropriate integration of blockchain technology within library settings.
