Abstract

Information-seeking behaviour is a critical component of academic research, as research scholars are heavily reliant on a variety of information sources to facilitate their work. The methods by which research scholars from the Faculties of Social Sciences and Arts at the University of Delhi seek information are the focus of this investigation. The primary goals of the investigation are to determine the primary information sources that research scholars utilise, the frequency with which they visit libraries, the frequency with which they utilise electronic resources, and the challenges they encounter when seeking information. To implement a survey methodology, 300 research scholars-150 from the Faculty of Social Sciences and 150 from the Faculty of Arts-were provided with a structured questionnaire. The results indicate that researchers now use electronic journals as their primary information sources. Nonetheless, conventional materials like books and printed journals are still crucial to academic study. The study emphasises how scholars in the two faculties behave differently when seeking information. The study's conclusions will assist academic libraries in meeting the needs of research scholars by enhancing their services and offering better information
