Abstract

Social networking sites have become innovative tools for libraries to connect with users and provide updated information. This study examines the use and impact of Academic Social Networks (ASNs) on research engagement among library professionals. Using a survey method, data were analysed to assess usage patterns, purposes, importance, and challenges. The findings reveal that most respondents are young professionals with limited experience, and platforms like Google Scholar and ResearchGate are widely used for discovering research and staying updated. ASNs are perceived as highly important for research activities; however, the lack of time remains a major challenge. Overall, ASNs enhance research engagement and professional development.
