Analysis of citations in articles of users may be an important criterion for selection the journals. 3570 citations used by researches of each disciplines of NIT Hamirpur was analysed separately. It was found that journal articles were the most cited documents except for the researchers of Computer Science discipline who cited conference publications the most. Only 31 (i.e. 1.10%) open access articles were cited by the researchers. 86% of the cited journal articles were published during the last 20 years. It was observed that a small number of Most Relevant journals covered most of the citations e.g. in Mechanical Engineering discipline, Top 15 cited journals (6.02%) had 248 (35.84%) citations may be treated as Most Relevant Journals, whereas next 50 (20.08%) journals having 200 (31.79%) citations may be treated as relevant journals. The subscription of these journals was renewed for the next years as well.
